Hired by Neighbors, help at home from people your neighbors hired.
Last updated 6 October 2026
What stays on your device
- Your first name and ZIP code, used to sign your messages and to show your neighborhood.
- The helpers you added, the jobs you recorded and what you paid.
- The requests you sent and the replies you typed in.
These are kept in the app's own storage on your device, and in your device's own backups if you have those on. We cannot see them.
What you can choose to share
After a job, the app asks three questions. If Share with neighbors is on when you save, this is sent to the app's shared record so other people in the same ZIP code can see it:
- the helper's or business's name and phone number
- a short label for the job, for example "Standard clean, 2 bedrooms"
- the price you paid
- whether you would hire them again
- the month and year, and your ZIP code
Your name, your phone number and the exact date are not sent. With sharing off, the job is saved on your device only.
The shared record is a public database in Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) that belongs to this app. Saving to it uses your device's iCloud account. Apple keeps an internal identifier for the account that created each entry, so that only you can delete it; the app does not read or show that identifier, and we cannot turn it into a name.
Messages and calls
When you ask helpers for a quote, the app opens your device's own message sheet with the text written for you. You press Send, and it goes from your own phone number like any other text. The helper sees your number and the first name you signed with. The app cannot read your messages; replies are shown in the app only if you type them in. Calls are placed by your phone in the same way.
The quote link
Each text the app writes for you ends with a link where the helper can send their price. To make that link work, the app sends our quote service the helper's name and phone number, your first name, your city, and the job and timing you asked for. The helper sees your first name, city and the job on that page. Their answer, and anything they choose to say about their business, is stored there so the app can show it to you; what they say about their business may also be shown to other people who see that helper in a list. Requests and quotes are deleted after 30 days. The service runs on Cloudflare.
Location
You can type your ZIP code, or tap Use my location. If you do, the app asks your device for an approximate location once, uses Apple's own service to turn it into a ZIP code, and keeps only the ZIP code.
Apple Maps
When you look for helpers, the app asks Apple Maps for businesses of that kind near the middle of your ZIP code. Apple receives the search (for example "house cleaning service") and that approximate area, as it would if you searched in the Maps app. Your exact location is not sent.
Usage information, advertising and tracking
There is none. The app has no analytics, no advertising identifier, no ads and no tracking across apps or websites.
Deleting your data
In the app, open Account and choose Erase my helpers and shared jobs. This removes everything from your device and takes the jobs you shared off the shared record. Deleting the app removes what is on your device, but not what you shared, so erase first if you want those removed.
If you are a helper or business listed in the app
Entries are added by people who hired you. If an entry about you is wrong, or you want it removed, write to the address below with your business name and phone number.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new date above.
